Established in 1955 by Vern Schafer in Colton, California, Schafer & Sons operated as a popular “stencil brand”. Instead of manufacturing their own, they partnered with major producers like Samick (1974–1989) and Young Chang (1990–2005) to build pianos under the Schafer & Sons name. These instruments were widely distributed across the Southwestern United States, particularly through the Colton Piano store chain.
