What is the Main Difference between the Spinet and other upright pianos?

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles.  The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings.  In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

  • Quality affordable used pianos vetted and serviced by Jay "the piano man". Delivery is extra but reasonable. Jay also follows up offering piano tuning and service for his customers. His pianos are very competitive, I haven't seen more affordable used pianos with similar quality and variety of selection anywhere.

  • Jay from Pianos for Humanity clearly loves what he does. I've been thinking about getting a piano for months and then saw one that he had restored and tuned and he offers delivery for free. He is very responsive and clearly takes pride in his work. In these times where we are self-distancing for an unknown length of time, it's very uplifting to be able to have music in our house.   • Jay really has a great thing going! There are lots of pianos on many different listings, but Jay takes the gamble out of finding a good one for a reasonable price. He knows his pianos and makes sure he delivers one in good working condition.
