Main Difference between the Spinet and others

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles.Β  The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings.Β  In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

 

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

  • We bought a rare antique Story and Clark piano/Lowry organ combination that Jay rescued and restored and couldn't be happier. Jay educated us about how the piano/organ works, how we can tune the organ, and offered his ongoing support should we need it. He even included a higher bench (due to an old shoulder injury) and delivered the piano almost two hours away.   • Jay did an amazing job moving our piano! We had a great experience. Not only did he move the piano, but he taught us about the different parts of the piano, polished it, made it look new, and tuned it! He was efficient, friendly, and enthusiastic. His passion for music is contagious! He played several tunes and treated the piano with utmost care every step of the way. We highly recommend Pianos for Humanity!

  • Jay is amazing! He was incredibly patient with me and found just the piano my family was dreaming of. His attention to detail is astounding, he made the finish of the piano nearly new again and for my untrained (but aspiring) musical ears, it sounds absolutely beautiful! Very fair price also, since it includes tuning, restoration and delivery. My family will cherish this heirloom for years to come.

  • A very easy and smooth purchase from Jay. He is very knowledgeable about the piano world and the buying experience was more than amazing. He wrapped the piano perfectly and arrived on time with the right equipment to move the piano safely, we then chose the spot and he played something very nice as to introduce the piano to the home.
