Main Difference between the Spinet and others

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles.  The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings.  In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

  • Fabulous experience! In February we bought a Wurlitzer Spinette for our daughters who had been taking piano lessons for about 2 years. They had outgrown the keyboard on which they learned. Jay made the experience fun and made sure the piano we chose was a good fit for our family. The delivery was fast and and efficient. We are loving hearing music fill our home!

  • Not sure if it was Jay ('The Piano Man'?) I spoke with, but that had to have been one of the rudest interactions I've ever encountered with a rep at any piano store. I had a question about one of the models they have (literally just asked what year it was made), and there was immediate hostility. The dude may not care what it is or when it was made, but if I'm investing money into an kind of instrument, I want to know everything I can about it. I told him that I'm relocating to CO in about a month and asked if he could post a recording of it if it wouldn't be too much trouble (originally found on Facebook)--he just said to come in person and hung up. I was fully intending to purchase the piano over the phone and have it taken care of within the week like any regular transaction, but I wasn't able to get that far into the conversation. No clue why he acted like it was such an imposition to be asked a question.

  • Pianos for Humanity is a top notch company. The owner is very passionate about pianos and only sells the best quality pianos at an affordable price. We had been looking for a piano for years and we were so blessed to find a piano of the quality for the price we purchased it at. We cannot recommend this company enough!

  • Jay was so helpful finding a piano! He takes the mystery out of the purchase by guaranteeing quality, tuned pianos. The delivery went smoothly and he offered his tuning services in the future!
