Main Difference between the Spinet and others

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles.  The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings.  In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

 

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

  • Jay the piano man deserves more than 5 stars! I am so impressed with my piano! He was great to work with and an amazing pianist as well. It was so fun listening to him play and getting to hear what the piano sounds like in our space.

Jay clearly loves his work, is determined, and creative when it comes to moving (very heavy!) pianos into a space, and is really kind and a delight to work with.
