Main Difference between the Spinet and others

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles.  The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings.  In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

 

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

  • Fabulous experience! In February we bought a Wurlitzer Spinette for our daughters who had been taking piano lessons for about 2 years. They had outgrown the keyboard on which they learned.   • Our experience with Jay was excellent! I reached out to him, and he immediately responded with pictures of various pianos to choose from within my budget and preferences. He delivered the piano the next day, fully tuned and cleaned, along with a bench and some sheet music. He even played a song for me and my kids! He was lovely to work with, and I highly recommend doing business with him. Totally worth it and we've really enjoyed the piano!
