Main Difference between the Spinet and others

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles.  The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings.  In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

 

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

  • Jay from Pianos for Humanity clearly loves what he does. I've been thinking about getting a piano for months and then saw one that he had restored and tuned and he offers delivery for free. He is very responsive and clearly takes pride in his work. In these times where we are self-distancing for an unknown length of time, it's very uplifting to be able to have music in our house.   • Jay is amazing! He was incredibly patient with me and found just the piano my family was dreaming of. His attention to detail is astounding, he made the finish of the piano nearly new again and for my untrained (but aspiring) musical ears, it sounds absolutely beautiful! Very fair price also, since it includes tuning, restoration and delivery. My family will cherish this heirloom for years to come.
