Main Difference between the Spinet and others

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles. The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings. In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

Our experience with Jay was excellent! I reached out to him, and he immediately responded with pictures of various pianos to choose from within my budget and preferences. He delivered the piano the next day, fully tuned and cleaned, along with a bench and some sheet music. He even played a song for me and my kids! He was lovely to work with, and I highly recommend doing business with him. Totally worth it and we've really enjoyed the piano!

My whole experience buying a piano from Jay was absolutely wonderful. I cannot recommend pianos for humanity enough. Jay clearly loves his work, is determined, and creative when it comes to moving (very heavy!) pianos into a space, and is really kind and a delight to work with. Plus he played me “happy birthday” when we got my piano inside. I’m brimming with joy. Thanks Jay for all you do! I’m totally in love with my new piano.

We highly recommend Jay, he deserves more than 5 stars. He had a great selection of spinets and helped us pick the perfect one for our family. He was very responsive answering questions every time I called. He was extremely reliable delivering as promised, just in time for Christmas, even on the coldest day of the year in sub-zero temps and snow covered roads! When my novice pianist is ready to upgrade to the next level of piano I will be making my first call to Jay for sure! Thanks Jay, for letting me give my daughter the surprise of a lifetime!

I cannot recommend Jay enough if you’re in the market for a piano! He is a musician himself and it is apparent how deep his love for pianos is! I contacted him via marketplace and he took the time to send me multiple available pianos and even sent me videos of each being played! I picked a stunning Weber baby grand piano. It showed up less that 24 hours later professionally delivered with Jay arriving as well to make sure it was tuned and working perfectly! Wouldn’t buy from anywhere me else!!! Highly recommend!
