Main Difference between the Spinet and others

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles.  The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings.  In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

 

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

I purchased a 1912 Steinway upright which Jay had personally restored to impeccable condition, including repairing all mechanical issues & a new paint job / wooden decal that just look incredible (seriously, check out the photo).   • Jay is amazing! He was incredibly patient with me and found just the piano my family was dreaming of. His attention to detail is astounding, he made the finish of the piano nearly new again and for my untrained (but aspiring) musical ears, it sounds absolutely beautiful! Very fair price also, since it includes tuning, restoration and delivery. My family will cherish this heirloom for years to come.

  • Jay did an amazing job moving our piano! We had a great experience. Not only did he move the piano, but he taught us about the different parts of the piano, polished it, made it look new, and tuned it! He was efficient, friendly, and enthusiastic. His passion for music is contagious! He played several tunes and treated the piano with utmost care every step of the way. We highly recommend Pianos for Humanity!

  • I am thrilled with the piano I got from Jay!!! He was very helpful with me over the phone and answered all my questions patiently. you see it had been 45 years since I had played the piano and decided that I wanted to play again. Jay delivered the piano of my dreams 500 miles up to Cody, Wyoming in a blinding snow storm. That was above and beyond the call...He is the nicest and most talented person I have ever met and we hope that he will come back this summer for a longer visit...He is the BEST!!!
