Moving dollys

Main Difference between the Spinet and others

The hammers are the same size in ALL 4 piano styles.  The Spinet Piano keys will PULL up the hammers to strike the strings.  In the larger pianos, the keys will PUSH up the hammers to strike the strings.

Because the soundboard of a Spinet is the shortest of the piano family, the ‘hammer action’ is lowered to fit inside the piano and therefore the hammers need to be leveraged differently than they are in the larger brothers.

Notice, all the hammers are the same size, but it's where they are placed in relation to the size of the soundboard making the difference being the spinet keys PULL up the hammer action while the others PUSH up the action hammers.

  • We highly recommend Jay, he deserves more than 5 stars. He had a great selection of spinets and helped us pick the perfect one for our family. He was very responsive answering questions every time I called. He was extremely reliable delivering as promised, just in time for Christmas, even on the coldest day of the year in sub-zero temps and snow covered roads! When my novice pianist is ready to upgrade to the next level of piano I will be making my first call to Jay for sure! Thanks Jay, for letting me give my daughter the surprise of a lifetime!

  • Pianos for Humanity is a top notch company. The owner is very passionate about pianos and only sells the best quality pianos at an affordable price. We had been looking for a piano for years and we were so blessed to find a piano of the quality for the price we purchased it at. We cannot recommend this company enough!

  • Not sure if it was Jay ('The Piano Man'?) I spoke with, but that had to have been one of the rudest interactions I've ever encountered with a rep at any piano store. I had a question about one of the models they have (literally just asked what year it was made), and there was immediate hostility. The dude may not care what it is or when it was made, but if I'm investing money into an kind of instrument, I want to know everything I can about it. I told him that I'm relocating to CO in about a month and asked if he could post a recording of it if it wouldn't be too much trouble (originally found on Facebook)--he just said to come in person and hung up. I was fully intending to purchase the piano over the phone and have it taken care of within the week like any regular transaction, but I wasn't able to get that far into the conversation. No clue why he acted like it was such an imposition to be asked a question.

  • Jay from Pianos for Humanity clearly loves what he does. I've been thinking about getting a piano for months and then saw one that he had restored and tuned and he offers delivery for free. He is very responsive and clearly takes pride in his work. In these times where we are self-distancing for an unknown length of time, it's very uplifting to be able to have music in our house. Thank you Jay.
